Liliana Muntean, born and raised in Romania, is a creative artist who works in multiple artistic mediums such as painting, crafting, cooking, design, etc. Her main focus is photography with her style being more dramatic/creative, with fine art tendencies. She often mixes portraiture and fashion with a classic and elegant feel.
What makes you choose this profession?
As a young teenager she remembers taking hundreds of photos with a film camera she had received from her father, but it wasn’t until she was in her late twenties after a messy divorce while starting life over again as a single mother that she immersed herself further into photography by joining a photography club. The club was founded by a wonderful person who took both her and her then young son under their family’s wings until they were back on their feet. She had then slowly started venturing in her own direction, in search of finding her own niche and what she truly wanted to focus more on when it came to photography. It is her creative nature that has led to meeting creative minds alike with whom she is able to gradually bring her artistic visions to life.
In your daily routine, what resources do you like to learn new things about art, fashion?
Keeping up with major designers, social media, galleries, museums, books, magazines and such does make for wide variety of newly acquired information on a daily basis.
Is art, fashion important in your life? Why?
Yes, it is how I express myself. Both Art and Fashion is simply a personal language without which it’s almost as if I were to lose a certain sense of self.
In modern society, lots of people want to be famous, influential. What do you think about it?
Lili thinks it is more important to be passionate about what you love and continue working on it, rather than focusing on being famous or influential. Fame and influence comes with passion, talent and hard work.
What will be the suggestions to new photographers?
Continue exploring, wonder, imagine, create. Observe, but be unique. Be curious, be bold, communicate and connect with your subject. Visualize.
Where does your inspiration come from?
Could be anything, really. Every moment is unique.
She does not follow any conventional rules, letting her photography to be an art form without boundaries. It needs not be perfect, yet it does, in a different kind of way. It is meant to offer more, but it is somehow complex just like her. It is when she can offer the creative direction and build off of dreams and visions that she can fully immerse herself in and offer the creative direction she desires that her work truly comes to life. She has a timeless connection to her art and the classics.
She explores themes that have to do with the past, the feminine, as well as the masculine, feelings, dreams and dreamy states of mind, some darker, some stronger, some softer.
Will you still create new works when you are old?
Absolutely! This is a journey that simply gets more wonderful and fulfilling as time passes by. It is a part of me that will simply remain timeless.
